Oliver Kelly

Background

Oliver Kelly had been suffering from repeated back pain for the last 10-12 years. The affliction had always been in his lower spine and varied from stiffness and discomfort through to reasonably severe pain. On two occasions, he had suffered from brief bouts of sciatica.

  • History of Addressing the Back Pain

Oliver had addressed his back pain through a combination of exercise, anti-inflammatory medicines and regular (every 5-7 weeks) trips to an Osteopath or Physiotherapist. His exercise regime included yoga, swimming and cycling. He had tried various different chairs in the past and had a workstation assessment.

Workstation adaptations included raising the height of his desk, but the pain persisted.

Oliver Kelly then bought the Corrigo chair personally, which was fitted at his workplace.

Report on the Benefits of the Corrigo Chair

  • How he found using the Corrigo:

close quoteIt is excellent, not a trip to the physiotherapist or osteopath since it arrived. I thought previous ‘designer’ chairs were supportive and comfortable until this one arrived!!!

  • How the Corrigo chair helped his back pain

Oliver reported that he was…

Free of back pain for the first time in over a decade. It probably took a month or so from the arrival of the chair for all close quotemy symptoms to ease and then disappear….the only exception was when I went on holiday and didn’t use the chair for 10 days.

  • Any other benefits of the chair?

Oliver reported being more aware of his posture. He quotes that he…

will now on occasion stand when away from my desk rather than sit on a chair that does not allow proper posture.close quote

Surprisingly, his speed of typing also improved. Oliver stated that…

close quotethe shorter armrests effectively support your elbows and lower arms, thereby allowing faster typing without the need for a wrist rest.
