Designer : Nichola Adams

Nichola Adams
Graduating in 1992 with a BA in Fine and Decorative Arts, Nichola Adams (nee Agace) had a successful Management career in Art History. Nichola then diversified into Ergonomics to fulfil a longstanding desire to focus on people and design, more specifically, to improve the design of the workplace. Nichola studied part-time (whilst raising two children) for her MSc at the European Institute for Health Ergonomics, University of Surrey. The University of Surrey is recognised as the international centre of excellence for ergonomic research, teaching and application. Her thesis was published in Medical Informatics and the Internet in Medicine.
On completion of her masters, Nichola began on a quest to create a chair that truly fits and to offer a solution for back pain. In conjunction with a physiotherapist, the design of the Corrigo commenced. Adams conducted an intensive research and design process to create a chair that puts the user’s needs first and recognises individuality. The result is a scientific-based form that is designed around the shape of the spine, is easy to use and is aesthetically pleasing. Ergonomics is not only about function, the end result also has to be a pleasure to use.
